General Introduction

 

      In viewing of its graceful environment and outstanding efforts in city construction, Duyun has gained a series titles of honor, such as Top Tourist City of China, National Health City, Model Radio and Television City of China, National Sports Advanced City, Model Cultural City of China, National Landscaping Advanced City, National Advanced City in Technological Progress, National Demonstrative City of Food and Health, Advanced Economy City of GuiZhou Province, Provincial Garden City of Guizhou.Provincial Civilized City of Guizhou and so on.
      As an old saying here goes, the landscape of Duyun can be described as "nine waters return to one", that is to say numerous waters in Duyun will eventually gather into JianJiang River, the source of Qingshui River. The jasper JianJiang River snakes across the land of Duyun. Along its two banks, there are whispering birds, blooming flowers and luxuriant green, presenting a picturesque nature and mobile ecological environment.
      Duyun has long been praised as a Plateau Bridge City for its approximately 100 large and small bridges downtown with each of distinct flavor. Ancient Baizi Bridge presents with strong ethnic feelings; modern JianJiang Skew Bridge is of the largest rising among other large and medium-size ones of this sort; Yin Shi Bridge is a ornate art; Rainbow Bridge stretches across JianJiang River as a vivid rainbow; Moon Bridge seems like a comeliness young beauty. Duyun thus become a "Bridge Museum".
      The transportation in Duyun is very convenient. The Qiangui Railway(from Guiyang to Guangxi), which will soon be improved to be a high-speed railway, go across the whole city. In addition, Guixin highway (from Guiyang to Xinzhai in Guangxi) links Duyun with Sichuan province and Chongqing in the north, Beihai and Zhanjiang in the south. There are all together 184 national and provincial roads in Duyun, comprising 1259 kilometers of roading. There is also a network of rural roads linking most of the towns and townships in Duyun city, of which 100 percent are concreted and tarred ones. What's more, Duyun is about 100 kilometers away from both Long Dongbao airport north and Libo airport south. In addition, Xiarong Expressway(from Xiamen to Chengdu) and Guiguang Express Railway(from Guiyang to Guangzhou) projects are already well on the way, which will shorten the distance between Duyun and Guiyang to 80 kilometers, and cut the driving time in half an hour. The project of Guiguang express railway, which started in 2007, will reach a speed of 200 km per hour. As its result, it will take no more than 5 hours to travel from Duyun to Guangzhou by train.

      Infrastructures in Duyun are complete. It has fully supplied electricity, maturity finance and insurance system, convenient branches of banks, credit associations and insurances can be found throughout urban and rural districts. Duyun has also a complete business service network, with more than 50 farm trade markets, no less than 9000 supermarkets, retail stores and catering service trades, 75 star-rated hotels, travel agencies, vacation villages as well as other related firms, which, 6 3-star hotels, 2 2-star hotels. In addition, there are 100 or more other services like cultural centers, libraries, movie theaters, museums, dance halls, music cafes and bars, 10 or more services of publication magazine, broadcasting station, television station, am transmitter, song and dance troupes, which enabled 100 percent of radio coverage rate. Moreover, Duyun has been equipped with complete sports facilities such as stadiums, training offices, athletic grounds, swimming pools, bowling centers, water sport centers and so on. For the medical and health aspect, Duyun has built 3 3-level qualified hospitals, 2 B-2 hospitals, 5 private hospitals and 20 township public health centers. For the education, there are 3 colleges, 7 secondary technical or specialized schools, 33 high schools and 203 elementary schools. For the economy, there are 1 provincial-level economic development zones, 1 industrial zones, more than 200 national, provincial, sub-prefecture state-owned enterprises and 5400 township enterprises. The Non-public economy of Duyun develops rapidly.
